xAI releases Grok 4.6 at $2/M input tokens, half the price of frontier rivals
xAI released Grok 4.6 in August with $2/M input tokens, half the price of frontier rivals, available in GitHub Copilot.
xAI released Grok 4.6 in August 2026, focusing on long-running agents, multi-step execution, and ambitious interactive visual projects. Grok 4.6 scored 94.9 percent on GPQA Diamond and performed strongly on the CursorBench coding benchmark. xAI also released Grok Bot for multi-agent coordination.
Grok 4.6 is priced at $2 per million input tokens, roughly half of what comparable frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic charge. The model is now available in GitHub Copilot, with a model picker inside VS Code and GitHub workflows. xAI also fixed chat corruption and redirect loop bugs in Grok Build and accelerated subagent spin-up.
Grok 4.6 is already in Cursor and Grok Build. xAI says the model can research a topic, plan an application, build its core features, test its own work, and refine results across multiple rounds of feedback. SpaceXAI had said on the SpaceX earnings call that Grok 4.6 would ship as soon as that week.
