Physics simulation startup Vinci raises $250M at $1.5B valuation to bring AI deeper into chip design

On October 6, Palo Alto-based Vinci announced a $250M financing round at a $1.5B valuation, led by Advent, Temasek and Xora Innovation, with Eclipse, Khosla Ventures and Madrona participating. Vinci builds AI-assisted physics simulation software for semiconductor and hardware engineers.

Vinci started with thermal modeling — a growing pain point as AI chips get larger, denser and hotter — and plans to expand into full-system simulation including vibration and electromagnetics. CEO Hardik Kabaria told Reuters the company is moving from a handful of pilot deployments toward broader production use. The investment thesis matters because chip design is dominated by deeply embedded engineering software from companies like Cadence and Synopsys. Replacing or augmenting those tools is hard — simulation software must produce trustworthy results before billions of dollars are committed to manufacturing. That difficulty is precisely Vinci's moat.
