On August 16, Europe's largest low-cost carrier Ryanair signed a five-year agreement with Google Cloud, rolling out Gemini AI tools and DeepMind models to 35,000 staff for crew scheduling and operational decisions. The deal ranks among Google Cloud's largest enterprise AI deployments in the European airline industry to date.
Under the agreement, Ryanair will integrate Gemini-family models and DeepMind specialized models across customer service, crew scheduling, dynamic pricing and fuel optimization. Ryanair disclosed the deployment targets support its 2034 goal of 300 million passengers, up roughly 50 percent from current annual volume of around 200 million.
The signing follows Google's August 13 release of Gemini 3.7 Flash with coding and agent enhancements. The Ryanair deal is also viewed as a flagship case for Google DeepMind's accelerated enterprise AI commercialization following its restructuring in which Demis Hassabis moved to chairman. Google simultaneously disclosed that co-founder Sergey Brin has been more deeply involved in AI R&D since August, pushing recursive self-improvement and requiring key teams to match the frontier.
