OpenAI president Brockman publicly responds to executive exodus; July ARR up 20% MoM, enterprise customers up 32%
OpenAI president Greg Brockman responded on August 17 to recent executive departures, saying the company is "under a very high level of scrutiny", while disclosing July ARR grew 20% MoM and enterprise customers 32% MoM, reiterating that he and Altman remain stabilizing forces.
On August 17, OpenAI president Greg Brockman gave media interviews aimed at dampening concerns about senior leadership turbulence. He said OpenAI differs from other organizations in that it operates under a very high level of scrutiny, so every departure is examined closely whereas at other companies it would not be.
Last week OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser, who had been at the company for just eight months and led OpenAI's enterprise push against Anthropic, departed abruptly. Two days earlier former COO Brad Lightcap announced he was leaving after eight years to pursue new ventures. Applications head Fidji Simo resigned from her full-time role last month to focus on physical recovery, with Brockman formally taking over her responsibilities.
Brockman and CFO Sarah Friar told investors last Friday that July annualized revenue grew 20 percent month over month, with enterprise customer revenue growing faster at 32 percent. Brockman confirmed both numbers on August 17. OpenAI filed confidentially for an IPO with the SEC in June this year but has not announced timing; media reports have indicated the originally planned 2026 IPO has been pushed back to next year.
