OpenAI annualized revenue tops $40B as enterprise overtakes consumer, Dali Rajic named CRO
On Aug 14, OpenAI told investors its annualized run rate has surpassed $40 billion, with enterprise revenue overtaking ChatGPT consumer for the first time. It also named Wiz veteran Dali Rajic as its new Chief Revenue Officer.
Bloomberg and CNBC reported on August 14 that OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar disclosed at an investor briefing that the company's annualized revenue run rate has surpassed $40 billion, nearly doubling from the $20 billion-plus figure at the end of 2025. The July month-over-month growth exceeded 20 percent, with enterprise customer business up 32 percent year over year, including large clients such as Morgan Stanley, Target, T-Mobile, and Commonwealth Bank. Friar said the enterprise-versus-consumer crossover, previously forecast for the end of 2026, arrived two quarters ahead of schedule. The advertising pilot, which only began in ChatGPT on February 9, is approaching a $1 billion annualized run rate.
The same day, OpenAI formally named Dali Rajic, formerly president and COO of Google's cybersecurity acquisition Wiz, as its new Chief Revenue Officer, succeeding Denise Dresser who held the role for only nine months. Dresser had joined from Slack CEO in December 2025 as OpenAI's first-ever CRO. Rajic served at Wiz for roughly two and a half years before its $32 billion acquisition by Google, and earlier held the CRO title at Zscaler during a period when ARR grew from $400 million to $2 billion.
This is OpenAI's second senior departure in a week. On August 12, long-serving COO Brad Lightcap, an eight-year veteran who had shifted to special projects in April, announced his exit. OpenAI confidentially submitted its S-1 on June 8, racing Anthropic for the listing window.
