NVIDIA 13F filing discloses ~$21 billion SpaceX stake, becomes sixth-largest shareholder

NVIDIA filed its 13F on August 14 disclosing ~122.8 million SpaceX Class A shares valued at ~$21 billion ($17.2 billion at August 14 closing), making it the sixth-largest SpaceX investor.

NVIDIA filed its 13F with the SEC on August 14, disclosing for the first time about 122.8 million SpaceX Class A shares. At end-Q2 pricing, the stake was valued at approximately $21 billion, the second-largest single-stock holding after Intel (~$30 billion).

NVIDIA's SpaceX stake did not come from direct secondary market purchases but rather from the $10 billion investment in xAI in January this year. In February, SpaceX acquired xAI via stock swap at a combined valuation of $1.25 trillion, and NVIDIA's xAI equity was converted to SpaceX equity. SpaceX closed at $140 on August 14, down about 18% from $170.86 at end-June, bringing NVIDIA's mark to market to approximately $17.2 billion.

FactSet data shows NVIDIA is the sixth-largest SpaceX investor. The largest is Musk himself (~$850 billion on paper), followed by Alphabet (~$78 billion). SpaceX had previously announced on its Q2 earnings call that its AI data centers will exclusively use NVIDIA GPUs, with expectations of receiving significant allocation of NVIDIA's next-gen Vera Rubin GPUs in 2026.

Other NVIDIA 13F holdings did not see major changes. Harvard Management Company disclosed ~$2.2 billion in SpaceX, and the University of California and University of North Carolina also hold SpaceX stakes.
