NVIDIA on October 13 announces investments in Doctolib and three other French AI firms, meets with Macron
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced on October 13 investments in French medical-booking platform Doctolib, robotics AI startup Genesis AI, enterprise planning software firm Pigment and generative-AI materials startup Entalpic, and held a meeting with Macron on Europe's AI infrastructure and open models.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced during his October 13 visit to Paris investments in four French AI companies spanning medical, robotics, enterprise software and chemical materials. Doctolib founder Stanislas Niox-Château said NVIDIA is taking a minority stake without a board seat; the capital will help Doctolib hire and build its own AI models to reduce reliance on OpenAI and Anthropic, and to develop personal health assistants for patients and AI assistants to handle administrative and clinical work for medical staff. The other three companies are Franco-American robotics AI startup Genesis AI, enterprise planning software firm Pigment and generative-AI materials startup Entalpic for the chemicals industry; NVIDIA has not disclosed the size of any individual investment. The same day he met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to discuss French AI industry investment, open models and AI safety. Macron said on X that NVIDIA is not only investing in French companies but also committed to support the Franco-German push to develop open research in Europe. Huang noted in a public talk that Europe currently holds only about 5% of global compute capacity compared with more than 45% for the United States, and that Europe risks missing this technology cycle if it cannot build its own infrastructure and models.
