Google removes Gemini Pro free tier, keeps Flash budget tiers

Google tightened the Gemini free tier significantly on April 1. Pro-tier models (3.1 Pro, 3 Pro, 2.5 Pro) lost the free tier and moved to paid-only; Gemini 3 Flash and 3.1 Flash-Lite kept free tiers with reduced daily quotas. It was the first time Google ended free flagship access, steering heavy users to paid layers. Google still offers the most generous free tier among major providers, but the free-Pro era is over.
