Anthropic commits $150 million over three years to Genesis Mission on October 8

Anthropic committed $150 million over three years to Genesis Mission, covering research projects at more than 15 federal agencies including NASA, NIH, NSF and DOE, with focus on fusion energy and quantum computing.

Anthropic announced on October 8 at the Science A New Golden Age Summit hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy that it will commit $150 million over three years to Genesis Mission. Genesis Mission is a US federal cross-agency program aimed at accelerating scientific discovery through AI, with participating agencies including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy and DOE national laboratories. Anthropic's DOE partnership was first announced in December 2025. The company will provide Claude, Claude Code and API credits to hundreds of Genesis Mission research projects and embed engineers with agencies and national laboratories, prioritizing fusion energy and quantum computing. Anthropic will also provide onboarding and technical support to newly joining agencies and expand Claude for Enterprise deployment at sites such as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The company said the broader research support effort also covers the Claude Science researcher workbench, 10000 free or discounted Claude seats for academic scientists and the recently released Model Hardware Standard research preview, which sets safety norms for AI agents on physical lab instruments.
