According to the Claude status page, the outage started at around 3:00 AM ET. Anthropic said it implemented a fix and was monitoring for recovery. In its most recent update, Anthropic said it had identified the cause of elevated errors for Claude Opus 5, with the team working on a fix for that model.
As of 12:07 PM ET on August 5, the Claude status page showed all affected models had returned to normal service. This was Anthropic's most severe service outage in recent memory, drawing attention from some enterprise users regarding Claude's service reliability.
