YouTube on October 15 launched its AI chatbot-style video search Ask YouTube on US mobile, letting users ask natural-language questions and receive answers with video cards. Ask YouTube covers video recommendations, content Q&A and creator lookup, allowing questions such as the most popular videos on a topic, recent event coverage, or a creator's latest uploads. The feature is powered by YouTube's Gemini-based multimodal video retrieval system, which combines subtitles, transcripts, thumbnails and channel metadata to generate answers; mobile users can access Ask YouTube via the search bar and enter natural-language prompts. YouTube also rolled out new labels for AI-generated music inside YouTube Music, working with the Music AI Incubator creators to help users identify AI-generated parts while browsing music. Ask YouTube is YouTube's first full public launch of conversational AI search since its 2025 experiment, positioned as a conversational complement to traditional video search, with plans to expand to desktop and international markets in the future.
