OpenAI launched the Rosalind Academic Plan on October 15, providing API credits, model-weight research access and compute support to verified academic researchers across physics, chemistry, biology and social sciences; approved researchers gain research access to the GPT-6 family of models and shared compute.
OpenAI launched the Rosalind Academic Plan on October 15, providing API credits, model-weight research access and compute support to verified academic researchers across physics, chemistry, biology and social sciences. Named after physicist Rosalind Franklin, the plan highlights women's contributions to science. Approved researchers gain research access to the GPT-6 family, including GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, plus dedicated research sandboxes, model-weight research access and elastic shared compute; OpenAI will also run cross-disciplinary workshops and publish open datasets, encouraging submissions on biological discovery, quantum chemistry and complex-systems simulation. The Rosalind Plan complements OpenAI's earlier funding of the AGMAI independent mathematics advisory group at Princeton and the joint programme with the Simons Foundation on mathematicians studying AI-generated content, and forms part of OpenAI's systematic investment in the academic community.
