NVIDIA in talks to invest in Perplexity at over $30B valuation
NVIDIA was in talks on Aug 24 to participate in a Perplexity funding round valuing the company above $30 billion, with annualized revenue exceeding $750 million.
On August 24, multiple media outlets reported that NVIDIA is in talks to participate in a new funding round for AI startup Perplexity. The round would value Perplexity at over $30 billion, more than 66% above the $18 billion valuation from its previous round in July 2025, and up more than 50% year-over-year. The funding round will total several billion dollars.
Perplexity's annualized revenue has grown from under $250 million at the start of 2026 to over $750 million, more than tripling in nine months. The core driver is the Perplexity Computer cloud AI agent product, where each session averages 26 minutes of autonomous work, far longer than traditional search's 33 seconds.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang publicly stated he uses the Perplexity chatbot daily. NVIDIA had previously considered spending several billion dollars to license some of Perplexity's technology and recruit its employees.
