Moonshot confirms Kimi K2.5 end-of-service by end of August

On August 25, Moonshot AI confirmed that its first-generation trillion-parameter multimodal model Kimi K2.5 will end service and be officially retired by the end of August 2026.

Kimi K2.5 was Moonshot AI's multimodal flagship model released in 2025, with 1 trillion parameters, widely used in multimodal research and application development after open-sourcing. Its successor Kimi K3 was open-sourced in late July with 2.8 trillion parameters, introducing Kimi Delta Attention hybrid linear attention mechanism, 1M context window, and has been integrated by overseas vertical AI companies like Harvey.

Retiring K2.5 is part of the company's routine product line iteration. Moonshot AI recommends existing K2.5 users migrate to K3, and has provided complete model weight downloads and inference code examples.
