Manus launches 2.0 platform and standalone Cue app: every agent gets email, phone and wallet

Singapore-based Manus released version 2.0 on September 29 with its Cascade orchestration harness; in a tested configuration Cascade used 23.2% fewer tokens, finished tasks 28.2% faster, and cost 32% less to run. The companion Cue app gives each agent its own email, phone number, wallet, and cloud computer.

Singapore-based AI startup Manus released version 2.0 of its platform on September 29. The centerpiece is the in-house Cascade agent orchestration harness: the system keeps projects lightweight at start, pulling in specialized tools and information only when the task actually requires them. In one tested configuration, Cascade used 23.2% fewer tokens, finished tasks in 28.2% less time, and cost 32% less to run than Manus's previous system. Gartner Senior Director Analyst Anushree Verma said orchestration layers are becoming a key differentiator for enterprise AI deployments, complementing rather than replacing the underlying models.

Manus 2.0 also launched Cue, a standalone app for personal agents that directly competes with Meta's Muse app. Each agent in Cue gets its own identity and resources, including an email address, phone number, wallet, and cloud computer. The agents can send messages on the user's behalf, make payments within user-defined budgets, and complete tasks independently on dedicated machines. Users can create groups of agents to collaborate on a shared goal, with the user retaining the final decision. Verma cautioned that "the autonomy is ahead of the governance," recommending enterprises treat such systems as untrusted or semi-trusted automation with strong isolation, approval gates, detailed telemetry, and narrowly defined authority.

The desktop app has been upgraded to Manus Studio, a shared workspace combining documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, slides, websites, code, games, and video. Two new environments stand out: Video Editor for 30-60 second product ads, tutorials, and vlogs, with a timeline where users can swap AI-generated assets manually; and Game Dev for starting from playable templates, with finished games publishable as web pages and multiplayer hosting available through Cloud Computer. Automations now support event-driven triggers such as incoming email, Slack messages, and Notion updates. Manus 2.0 is available on web, desktop, and mobile; Cue is available on web, desktop, and Android with iOS awaiting App Store review. Cue is currently free in early access with the invite code MEETCUE.
