The IBM Granite team released Granite Switch 4.1 via the Hugging Face blog on October 15, a single-endpoint model that handles chat dialogue, decision reasoning and speech processing workloads simultaneously, aimed at replacing several scattered specialised small models with one set of weights in enterprise AI deployments to cut integration and operations cost. On top of the Granite family's existing dialogue and code generation capabilities, Granite Switch 4.1 adds structured decision reasoning and speech input/output support, and ships with a unified API and context window for rapid deployment on watsonx.ai and customer private clouds. The IBM Granite team published detailed model cards and benchmark results covering dialogue quality, structured reasoning accuracy and speech transcription error rates, alongside LoRA fine-tuning examples for enterprise customers to adapt the model to their business scenarios. The model is released under the Apache 2.0 licence, consistent with IBM's previous open strategy for the Granite family.
