Google launches unified Gemini enterprise agent on October 8
Google expanded Gemini from a conversational assistant into a unified agent that accepts goals, plans work and connects enterprise systems, launching first for business customers.
Google announced a unified Gemini agent at a Google Cloud event on October 8. Instead of accepting a single instruction, the agent receives a broader goal, plans the work, loads relevant skills and tools, and connects to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, Confluence, Git, BigQuery, Databricks, Postgres, Snowflake and MCP servers. A tasks inbox exposes delegated work, code, skill calls and progress. The agent has its own mailbox and organizational context, while actions are recorded in audit logs attributed to the agent rather than a person. The launch begins with enterprise customers before expanding to consumers. Early testers include On, Shopify and PayPal. Google said Gemini has more than one billion monthly active users and nearly 90 percent of the Fortune 100 use Gemini Enterprise at work. Pricing and a general availability date were not disclosed.
