Google launches Gemini Enterprise for Legal, expands into law firm AI workflows

On August 25, Google Cloud formally launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal, extending the Gemini Enterprise platform to law firms and the legal sector. The plug-in integrates with Thomson Reuters, Harvey, LexisNexis, and other legal software and data platforms, with AI agents capable of handling specialized legal and administrative functions.
Four major law firms have joined the collaboration: Weil Gotshal, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, and Williams & Connolly. Weil Gotshal co-managing partner Jonathon Soler noted that clients increasingly expect their lawyers to use AI and its efficiency advantages. Cleary Gottlieb managing partner Jeffrey Karpf said the collaboration lets the firm participate in creating useful tools for law firms deploying AI.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal offers contract review, legal reference checks, summarization of lengthy court documents, and drafting of basic legal filings. Google emphasized that customer data will not be used to train public models. Google Cloud Product Director Amrita Mehrok said the platform is designed to be flexible, letting law firms choose among embedded AI models.
