Cohere launches North 2 enterprise agent platform with cross-session memory and model-agnostic execution
On October 5, Cohere released North 2, its enterprise agent platform with cross-session memory, model-agnostic execution, granular token quotas, and immediate enterprise agreements with PwC Canada and Thales Canada.
On October 5, Toronto-based AI company Cohere launched North 2, its enterprise agent platform and an architectural overhaul of the North platform. North 2 introduces persistent memory, allowing agents to retain intermediate semantic summaries, historical system actions and environmental constraints across days and multi-week workflows, eliminating the compounding errors and wasted compute that stateless chatbots incur by rebuilding context from scratch each morning.
North 2 re-engineers the orchestration layer with hardened governance guardrails: admins can enforce organization-wide, department-level and per-agent token caps and budget ceilings. Agents that enter recursive reasoning loops or invoke excessive tool calls are paused and routed to human supervisors. North 2 also supports model-agnostic execution: admins can assign different models to different teams, including not only Cohere's own Command and Embed but also models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and open-source providers such as Alibaba, DeepSeek and Z.AI. Open-weight models can be used for first-pass document triage, with frontier models reserved for final executive synthesis.
North 2 also introduces reusable Skills and a corporate asset Library, letting them wrap internal database connectors, compliance parsers and custom APIs into reusable building blocks so teams can assemble verified agent workflows in hours.
On the commercial front, Cohere disclosed two immediate enterprise agreements: PwC Canada formed a national alliance with Cohere to deploy North 2 across its audit, tax and consulting practices, giving regulated Canadian financial institutions local-data-residency agent capabilities. Thales Canada announced integration of North 2 into Royal Canadian Navy support systems for logistics workflows. Cohere emphasizes sovereignty, local data residency, and on-premises / private VPC / Canadian sovereign cloud deployment options as a key differentiator for regulated North American industries.
