ChatGPT Pro unlocks Connectors to act on local files

On August 8, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Pro users now have access to Connectors that can act on local files. The feature was previously available mainly to ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu users. With the unlock, Pro subscribers can use Connectors to access local file systems for actions including reading, writing, and modifying.

This is part of the broader ChatGPT update announced on August 6. Beyond Pro Connectors, OpenAI also made GPT-5.6 Luna the default model for Free and Go users with unlimited text chat, and updated GPT-5.6 Sol for Plus and Pro users with a thinking slider.

ChatGPT Pro Connectors include multiple safety checkpoints. Every write action requests user approval before execution, and file read scopes are limited to directories and file types that the user has actively authorized. OpenAI emphasized that opening Connectors does not give the model full control over the user's local files; all changes require human confirmation.

At the pricing level, the ChatGPT Pro two-tier structure ($100 and $200 per month) has been running for nearly four months. The August 8 Connectors upgrade is a feature unlock rather than a pricing change.
