Anthropic launches $1.5B JV Ode With Anthropic with Blackstone and H&F
Anthropic announced on August 9 the $1.5 billion JV Ode With Anthropic with Blackstone and H&F, deploying 100 engineers to bring Claude to mid-sized banks, health systems, and manufacturers in regulated environments.
On August 9, Anthropic announced the joint venture Ode With Anthropic with Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman, with $1.5 billion in initial funding. The JV is staffed by 100 engineers and targets mid-sized banks, health systems, and manufacturers. Goldman, General Atlantic, Apollo, GIC, and Sequoia are also backing the JV.
Ode turns Anthropic's model API into an enterprise product that a bank compliance team can sign off on. The $1.5 billion JV brings Blackstone and H&F's private equity distribution relationships, which Anthropic's direct sales motion cannot reach. The 100 engineers are live, deploying Claude in regulated sovereign configurations for clients with data residency and compliance requirements.
The JV launch coincides with Tino Cuéllar's appointment as Chief Governance and Compliance Officer. The former California Supreme Court Justice's hire and Anthropic's Politico-confirmed state-by-state AI safety law push reinforce a coherent story this week: the company is making a coordinated move into regulated enterprise as its primary growth market. The FLI C+ safety rating is the commercial differentiator in those conversations.
Anthropic emphasized that Ode does not replace its direct sales or API business but complements its reach into regulated industries that are hard to cover independently.
