Leaked Anthropic filing shows cloud commitments possibly above $750B and Q3 revenue of $16.8B as AWS, Google and Microsoft treat it as a rival

TechCrunch reported Oct 20, citing a leaked Anthropic S-1, that the company's potential cloud commitments could exceed $750 billion, with first-half revenue of $16.3 billion against an $80.7 billion net loss and Q3 revenue of $16.8 billion, up 45% quarter over quarter. AWS, Google and Microsoft increasingly view Anthropic as a competitor rather than a customer, and compute remains tight.

TechCrunch reported on Oct 20, based on a leaked Anthropic S-1, that the Claude maker's cloud arrangements are getting messy. The company is struggling to secure enough cloud compute from AWS, Google and Microsoft, and the article says those three providers increasingly view Anthropic as a potential competitor rather than an ordinary customer. The report does not break out capacity, contract values or specific supply restrictions for each provider.

According to the filing, Anthropic believes its cloud commitments could exceed $750 billion, though some of those contracts are still under negotiation and cannot all be treated as settled or paid. Compute still falls short, and the company is leasing data centers and working with third-party operators while worrying that those operators have limited operating history and may be less reliable than the hyperscalers. The filing also shows a first-half net loss of $80.7 billion on $16.3 billion of revenue, with two customers accounting for about a fifth of sales. Q3 revenue reached $16.8 billion, up 45% quarter over quarter, already above the first-half total cited in the article. Roughly $1 billion came from a bitcoin price recovery and an unspecified related-party item.

The filing further warns that if harmful AI behavior causes damage, Anthropic could face liability that exceeds its available insurance coverage, without specifying an amount. On the listing front, TechCrunch says Anthropic is targeting an IPO in November 2026. The Wall Street Journal first reported the leaked document, which TechCrunch says also gave more detail to Reuters and Financial Times coverage from late September. Anthropic did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment.
