On August 19, 2026, Anthropic announced an expansion of Claude's Google Workspace capabilities. Beyond drafting, Claude can now send, reply, and forward Gmail emails without user confirmation. This positions the assistant as a task-execution agent rather than a chat tool.The Claude Connector for Google Workspace previously supported Google Calendar and Google Drive plus partial Gmail access. The new "send autonomously" capability is the first to extend execution authority to outbound email.Users remain in full control of whether Claude requests confirmation before each send. Anthropic says Claude still asks for confirmation by default, requiring users to enable "send without confirmation" in settings. The feature is available only to paid Claude users.On the same day, Anthropic upgraded its Chrome extension to a full Claude Cowork client with cross-platform session sync, rolling out to Max and Team users first and reaching Pro users within several weeks.In the same window, Anthropic published experimental data on Claude's autonomous protein binder design: 14 of 15 targets designed successfully, with 354 of 1,320 designs validated in two labs, a 26.8% overall success rate well above the 10%–15% industry average.
