Anthropic upgrades Claude for Startups: one free year of Claude Team plus $1,000 in API credits
On October 6 at SF Tech Week, Anthropic expanded Claude for Startups: startups founded within five years or funded within two can claim one free year of Claude Team with up to five premium seats plus $1,000 in API credits.
On October 6 at SF Tech Week, Anthropic announced an expansion of its Claude for Startups program. Eligible companies can claim one free year of Anthropic's paid Claude Team plan, including up to five premium seats, plus $1,000 in API credits for Claude development, with the total package valued at more than $7,000.
Applicants also get access to the Claude Marketplace to build plug-ins for the service and can book virtual office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team. Anthropic said in its announcement: "We created this program because we believe the benefits of AI will reach most people through the companies that build on top of models, rather than through the models alone. Working closely with founders and developers is therefore central to our mission."
Eligibility is generous: companies founded within the past five years or funded within the past two years qualify. Anthropic positions the program as complementing the Claude Marketplace launched on September 23, which already lists over 2,000 plug-ins and connectors, aiming to lower the trial-and-error barrier for young companies, lock in the tech stack early, and create a flywheel from free onboarding through plug-in development to ecosystem lock-in.
