Physicist Christopher Stubbs joins Anthropic Long-Term Benefit Trust
Stubbs was part of the 1998 team that discovered accelerated cosmic expansion; the trust now has four members including former Fed Chair Ben Bernanke.
Anthropic announced on October 21 that experimental physicist Christopher Stubbs joins its Long-Term Benefit Trust as its first physicist. Stubbs is the Samuel C. Moncher Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Harvard and served as Dean of Science from 2018 to 2024. He was on the 1998 High-Z Supernova Search Team that discovered accelerated cosmic expansion, and is the first project scientist at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, which began a 10-year southern sky survey in June 2026. The trust is independent of management and investors, can appoint the majority of Anthropic board members, and now has four members alongside Ben Bernanke, Neil Buddy Shah and Richard Fontaine.
