Alibaba Qwen App launches five new features on Qwen3.8-Max

The Qwen App and PC client rolled out five new features on August 7, with the underlying model switched to Qwen3.8-MAX and free access for all users.

On August 7, the Qwen App and PC client rolled out five new features, with the underlying model switched to Alibaba's latest flagship Qwen3.8-MAX. The features are Thinking Research, Scheduled Tasks, Office Assistant, Voice Calls, and Agent Marketplace. All features are available to users for free, marking a significant upgrade to the Qwen App product and signaling a shift from casual chat toward work-focused assistance.

Thinking Research is an upgrade of the previous Deep Thinking mode with stronger reasoning and information synthesis capabilities. Office Assistant can handle complex office tasks and supports cross-device collaboration, with paid tiers for higher usage. Agent Marketplace aggregates third-party agents from the Alibaba ecosystem. Voice Calls leverage the Qwen-Audio model for real-time voice interaction.

Scheduled Tasks let users set up triggers and content for agents to run automatically on a schedule, and combined with Office Assistant and Voice Calls, the Qwen App extends its coverage of ToB office scenarios.

The underlying Qwen3.8-Max model was released on August 3 and topped the Artificial Analysis Agent Index, surpassing both Kimi K3 and DeepSeek V4-Pro released in the same window. It is the first Chinese model to take the top spot on the index.
