Huawei says on November 5 Xiaoyi Work is first to run the openPangu-2.1-Pro model with HarmonyOS task enhancement

Huawei Cloud MaaS will stop selling openPangu-2.0-Flash and openPangu-2.0-Pro on November 6 and retire them on November 30, while Xiaoyi Work is first to run 2.1-Pro.

Huawei Cloud announced on November 1 that its MaaS model service platform would stop selling the openPangu-2.0-Flash and openPangu-2.0-Pro model services on November 6, 2026, and formally retire them at midnight on November 30. Huawei stated that new versions of the openPangu series are already planned and will be introduced gradually.

On November 5 media testing found that Xiaoyi Work was the first product to run the openPangu-2.1-Pro model, positioned around HarmonyOS task enhancement. Huawei has not publicly disclosed the specific capabilities of the model, and specifications for openPangu-2.1-Pro, including parameter count, activated parameters, context length and training data, are not yet public. This indicates the model is a very recent release that has not been formally announced, currently supported only in Xiaoyi Work.

Xiaoyi Work remains in beta and requires payment, offering 31 days of free access with 1000 AI points for new users, a promotional continuous monthly price of 49 yuan for the trial package and 199 yuan for the standard package, supporting market research, document handling, presentation creation, data analysis, content creation and code development. The retirement of the 2.0 series alongside early deployment of 2.1-Pro reflects the version transition cadence of Huawei's openPangu models, and is a typical case of a domestic model vendor running a grayscale validation of an undisclosed new version inside a flagship consumer application.
