On August 9, the US Department of Defense granted Salesforce's Agentforce 360 Impact Level 5 (IL5) authorization, clearing autonomous AI agents to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in AWS GovCloud for production military workflows such as logistics, recruit onboarding, and administrative support.
Salesforce said it is the first commercial vendor to bring a production agentic platform into the national security environment. To meet the IL5 bar, Salesforce attested that Anthropic's generative models were disabled in the platform. Salesforce confirmed separately that the required compliance attestation was completed as a core condition of IL5 review.
The IL5 authorization is a useful reference point for practitioners weighing the compliance controls needed to deploy agents in regulated environments, marking agentic AI clearing one of the highest government security bars. The authorization allows Agentforce 360 to deploy autonomous decision-making AI agents in DoD systems for critical business workflows.
