Anthropic expands Claude Mythos 5 cyber access, launches $35M open source security fund
Anthropic on Aug 24 expanded Mythos 5 use in Claude Security and launched the 0xDAF Defender Advantage Fund with $35M in Claude credits for open source security.
On August 24, Anthropic announced the expansion of Claude Mythos 5's cybersecurity defense access and the formal launch of the 0xDAF Defender Advantage Fund announced August 21.
Claude Security, available in beta to Claude Enterprise customers, has begun using Mythos 5 for codebase scanning. Results include CWE categories, confidence ratings, severity, and suggested fixes. Fixes must be implemented via Claude Code and reviewed by humans before deployment. Anthropic is simultaneously working with security partners including Wiz, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and Accenture on Mythos 5 integrations.
The Defender Advantage Fund (0xDAF) will provide $35 million in Claude credits to organizations that help open source maintainers secure their projects. Focus areas include: patching live vulnerabilities in widely used open source projects, automating vulnerability scanning and patching workflows, and researching security approaches that defend against entire classes of attacks. Anthropic will also expand the Cyber Verification Program to give qualified defenders Mythos-class access.
